Dwight 'Potter' Lee Brown
12/22/1944 - 11/9/1999
(Shown at age 36)
Dwight 'Potter' Lee Brown was born on December 22, 1944 in Bay County, Florida and died on November 9, 1999 in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. He lived to be 54 years old.

He only went by the name of "Potter" his entire life from early childhood until the day he died. He was known all over North Florida & South Alabama in the bluegrass music community. He was a flat-top picker and a singer and a song writer. He had a bluegrass band named "Old Truck" they played bluegrass festivals all over the panhandle in the 1970's. There is an annual event "The Potter Brown Memorial Pickin Party" on Lake Seminole, where friends, family and musicians who used to play music with Potter meet up. Most all of my family plays a stringed instrument and we spend the weekend playing bluegrass music in honor of Potter Brown.

Potter's ashes were taken out on the "Friendship" Capt Ed Parkers Sein Boat, a boat he fished on for many years, They rode out into Parker bayou where his brother - Gerald Brown - scattered his ashes and said "I'm gonna put you here Potter, where we had the best years of our lives" at that moment, two dolphins surfaced and blew and followed along beside the boat. Many of Potter's nephews and nieces were there to witness. Potter was loved by all who knew him. Potter was our beloved Brother and Son. He made this old world a better place.
