Jessie 'Dumpsy' Florence Bailey was born on November 23, 1894 in Calhoun County, Florida and died on January 8, 1987 in Blountstown, Florida. She lived to be 92 years old.

Her nickname was "Dumpsy". She told us her mother was Hitichi Creek Indian. She said nine names were handed down to her from her mother -- a tradition from mother to daughter. We only know a few of them today: Jessie, Florence, Floreen or Florah , Francis, and Flossie.

MATTIE BAILEY BURGE, Blountstown -- Mattie Bailey Burge, 82, of Blountstown, died Friday at Calhoun General Hospital in Blountstown. Services are scheduled for 3PM today at Blountstown Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial follows in Nettle Ridge Cemetery in Blountstown.
A lifelong resident of Calhoun County, she was a homemaker and a member of Blountstown Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include one sister, Dumpsy Davis of Blountstown; and a number of nieces and nephews.
