Jack Melvin Buchanan was born on January 25, 1926 in Tallahassee, Florida and died on October 6, 1968 in Tallahassee, Florida. He lived to be 42 years old.

He married on 7/23/1947 to Marilyn Lee Waskom. They had four children, Rodney, Margaret, Becky and Melvin. Jack served in WW II and worked for the Tallahassee Democrat following the war.
