Charles Dempsey Ethridge was born on May 18, 1896 somewhere in Florida and died on January 16, 1925 in Calhoun County, Florida. He lived to be 28 years old.

Records
Census4/10/1910 Altha FL (Calhoun County) 13 yrs old
Recorded as family #86, Henrietta Ethridge (age 58) is the head-of-household. She has been married twice (35 years in current marriage) and only 4 of her 7 children are still living. She was born in Florida, her mother in South Carolina and her father in Georgia. Lewis (son, 17 years old) and Charlie D. (son, age 13) are living with her. Both say they and their mother were born in Florida while their father was born in Georgia. Henrietta is a housekeeper, Lewis is a laborer employed as a teamster and Charlie is attending school. All three can read, write and speak English.
Census1/2/1920 Altha FL (Calhoun County) 23 yrs old
Listed as family #4: James M. Ethridge (head of household, age 38, widowed), Henrietta (mother, age 68, widowed) and Charley D. (brother, age 18, single). All three were born in Florida and say their parents were also born in Florida. James and Henrietta can read and write, however Charlie cannot and he has not been attending school. James is a laborer working on a general farm. The mark on the census for 'rent' or 'own' their home is different and undecipherable. It appears that they did not own or rent their home.
