James Edward Rigsby was born on July 4, 1887 in Calhoun County, Georgia and died on January 27, 1968 in Muscogee County, Georgia. He lived to be 80 years old.

He was called Jim. He owned and operated a Grocery Store in Fountain Bridge, GA. He ran a Grist Mill and made he made wooden chairs and rocking chairs, he also played the fiddle. He married Samantha Lowery and they had three children Carlton Leon (7/14/1904),Essie Lou (8/28/1907-1996) and Lena Bell (10/26/1910).

After the death of Samantha he married Evalee A. Howard.
