| Redmond Green Walker was born on August 18, 1818 somewhere in Georgia and died on April 2, 1901 in Noblesville, Hamilton County, Indiana. He lived to be 82 years old.
He first married Lydia Wiggins in Fayette County on October 11, 1837. She died about 1865 in Indiana. Later he married Mrs. Jeslina Ann Garrison who had three childred by a previous marriage, which were adopted by Raymond. They had the following children:
- Martha Jane Walker (born 9/2/1838)
- Mary Ann Walker (born 5/10/1840)
- Hardy Chambers Walker (12/28/1842-6/5/1940). He probably went by the name "Tom". He is buried at Camp Ground Church at Graham, AL. His wife was Nancy Dodson (12/27/1846-12/30/1928). Hardy was in Company H, 30th Regiment of the CSA from Campbell County, GA.
- William R. Walker (4/23/1844). He lost an arm in the war about 1863. He married Ursula.
- Lou Crissy (Lucretis) Walker (born 5/3/1846). She married John Eason.
- Lydia Ann Green Walker (born 12/13/1852). She married Cyrus Stephenson on 4/1/1875 in New Britton, Indiana.
One story passed down through the generations says this family was wiped out during Sherman's march. They went by rail to Hamilton County, Indiana in 1865. One of the girls died in a railway station with her new born child. Also, "Tom" did not accompany them or return soon to Georgia. W.R. became a school teacher in Indiana. |
