Dorothea Cramer was born about 1839 in an unknown place overseas in Germany (Prussia) and died on November 15, 1909 in Van Buren, Ohio. Actual date of birth is unknown. She lived to be about 70 years old.
Her father, Kaspar Cramer is believed to be related to Maria Cramer (who is the mother of August Kalthoff). If this is true, she and August Kalthoff are grandchildren of Franz A. Cramer and M. Freusberg.
A son, Matthew -- born in November 1869, dies when he is about 7-8 months old. It is believed the Kalthoff family moved while the 1870 census was being collected and were recorded twice -- once before the death of Matthew and again after his death. |

NOTE: The June 5, 1865 New York Passenger lists Casper Volkenrath (age 35) and T. Volkenrath (female, age 54). They were traveling from Germany to the United States with A. Kramer (female, age 18) and G. Kramer (male, age 7). Casper's age makes it impossible for him to be the father of August as stated on this census report. |
