| William Jesse Spears was born about 1838 in Jackson Co., Florida and died on November 13, 1862 in Danville, Virginia. Actual date of birth is unknown. He lived to be about 24 years old.
His wife was possibly Elizabeth Martin, She lived next door (in the 1850 census).
In April of 1862 he and his brother John, enlisted in the CSA FL 5th Infantry under the command of Capt. W. Gregory. He fought in the battles of the 2nd Manassas, Antietam & Sharpsburg.
He died of disease in Nov 1862 at Danville, VA. His son was born a month later.
His wife remarried in about 1867 to Thomas M. Parish Jr.
